William Fitzalan, Governor of Shrewsbury & Sherif of Salop
Held the castle of Shrewsbury for Empress Maud until it was taken by assault. He was also at the seige of Winchester Castle, when Empress Maud and her whole army were forced to flee. For his reward in staying loyal to Empress Maud thruought all of this, William was reconsitituted as Sherrif of Salop when King Henry attained the crown.
